Carphone Warehouse makes mobile money incursion
Carphone Warehouse has made a move into the mobile money market, offering customers a chance to carry out basic personal banking.
Carphone has linked up with the UK arm of Monitise, to offer an application that allows customers to check their balances and recent transactions, top-up a prepay mobile phone, move money between accounts and, for some customers, transfer money overseas.
Monitise has links with many of the high street banks and all of the major networks, and its services are available on over 590 different handsets.
Carphone chief Charles Dunstone said: ‘Having real time mobile access to banking and payments is a great service that will help our customers stay in touch with their finances, giving additional peace of mind when they need it most.’
The move follows Orange’s tie-up with Barclaycard to buy products through ?a phone.
