Commercial chief John Doughty exits Avenir
Avenir’s commercial director, John Doughty, is leaving the business next month to pursue a new venture in convergence.
Doughty officially resigned in April and will leave the distributor in mid-July. Doughty (pictured) arrived from distributor Brightstar/Tech Data in March 2008.
He is understood to be working through his three-month notice period. The matter is understood to be kept under wraps at the time as Avenir was embroiled in a court battle with previous MD Tanny Price, and client services manager Toby Wickenden, who left to join Vodafone.
Doughty brought significant knowledge of the mobile and IT sectors joining from Brightstar and before that Computer 2000, a Techdata company. Doughty is looking to return to his strengths in the convergence market.
Meanwhile Avenir will bolster its accessories sector with a new accessories sales director, Stuart Balaam, who will join next month and report directly into Avenir’s managing director, Andy Tow.
Balaam was previously managing director of Modelabs, a French company that distributes and manufactures accessories and customised handsets for operators.
