Daisy acquires Redstone: distributor reaction

Daisy Group’s acquisition of Redstone has met a mixed reaction from the industry, with some saying the deal had been on the cards for some time.

One distribution source said that he was not surprised by the development, as an analyst report featured on Redstone’s site had already indicated that the mobile section was be ready for disposal.

Other sources said that they would be watching carefully to see if Redstone would manage to retain all the networks in the future – the distributor is the only one to carry all five operators.

A dealer said: ‘I have had no communication from Redstone and it doesn’t really affect me, as long as the core business continues to run and it holds the current networks.’

Others in the distribution channel said that as both businesses are focussed on fixed line telecoms, they did not think that the acquisition of Redstone by Daisy would greatly affect mobile distribution.

Meanwhile, others were interested to find out if a rebranding exercise would be carried out as part of the deal and if Redstone would maintain its own identity.
