Daisy Group launches SME converged product
Daisy Group is launching its own fixed/mobile convergence product for the SME market, which allows businesses to connect using a dual Sim card.
Wire 3, which has been developed specifically for the SME market, is a fully hosted fixed, mobile and VoIP telephony service.
The Wire 3 Sim can be used in a handset, alongside either a Vodafone or O2
Sim, said Daisy Group product and marketing director Stuart Cordingley.
Daisy gets the usual service provision commission from either Vodafone or O2 in return for selling the product on either network.
Cordingley said: ‘We are seeing the SME sector as a driving force behind the uptake of converged solutions, as businesses become increasingly aware of the commercial benefits open to them by implementing new technologies.
‘Historically, capital expenditure has acted as a boundary to adoption, but technology has allowed small businesses to overcome that constraint. By utilising VoIP technology, Wire 3 allows company calls to be routed via the most cost effective course, enabling customers to reduce their monthly call charges.’
Cordingley said convergence is ‘at the heart of [Daisy’s] strategy’, adding that the company is focusing on unifying voice, data and mobile products.
He said: ‘The challenge and opportunity is to simplify these types of products, such as Wire 3, so they can be adopted by the SME and mid-market business customer.’
Earlier this month, Daisy Group appointed Flexphone co-founder Russell Horton as director of mobile operations.
Daisy Group bought Redstone’s telecoms arm in August for £17m. The move was part of a £39m acquisition spree that also included the purchase of telecoms and IT supplier Eurotel, and communications and technology company AT Communications, as the company looked to give itself a converged offering.
