Brightstar adds to its Android distribution

Brightstar has announced it is expanding the distribution network for Android devices and has added nine more regions.

The distributor will now sell Android handsets to developers in Italy, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Mexico, Northern Ireland and Norway.

It already provides the handsets to 18 other countries and the new regions will push the distributor’s remit to almost 30.

In December 2008, the company launched a website to support the Open Handset Alliance and to sell Android handsets to registered developers.

Brightstar VP of market development Brian Corey said: ‘We are excited and proud to expand our relationship with Google, the Open Handset Alliance and HTC with a second program to serve the rapidly growing Android developer community.

‘We look forward to providing and fulfilling these new devices to the 18 markets we serve today as well as to the nine new markets we are adding around the world.’
