O2 gives channel partners £2m in a bid to grow b2b base

O2 will give its channel partners an extra £2m cash injection as the network looks to grow its b2b customer base.

The funding will be available in the first six months of 2010 ?to all its current partners, as well as new ones that decide to join the network.

O2 said it would provide ‘incremental investment’ for ‘incremental connections’. The funding is intended to help partners continue to leverage high-value customers, such as iPhone and BlackBerry users, in addition to increasing overall sales.

The move has drawn an enthusiastic response from O2’s Centre of Excellence partners. One said: ‘It is an attempt to acquire more customers. We are very positive about the fact they are continuing to invest in their better partners.’

O2 business sales director Ben Dowd said: ‘Our channel partners are critical to our success and we have a strong belief in them as a community.
‘This additional fund shows our appetite to help secure the future success and profitability of our entire partner channel.’

Meanwhile, O2 is poised to hand over more direct customers to its Centre of Excellence partners.

Over 100,000 customers have already been given to O2’s Centre of Excellence partners in 2010, increasing the client base by 18%.
