O2 partners taken to Spain for end of year review
O2 took some of its closest partners to Spain as an ‘end of the year round up’, and to talk about its plans for the New Year.
The event gave UK partners an opportunity to speak to the Spanish Telefónica businesses about convergence, where O2’s Spanish parent holds nearly half of the market.
One source said: ‘The idea was to go to where Telefónica is based. The company has 42% of the converged market and it was very much how O2 saw the future.’
Business sales director Ben Dowd, head of SME sales David Plumb and head of indirect partners Maggie Kennedy all attended the RIM sponsored event.
A company spokeswoman said: ‘O2 took its Centre of Excellence partners to its annual sales conference in Madrid to celebrate the success of 2009 and share thoughts and plans for 2010.
‘This included sharing best practice and key learnings from our colleagues in Telefónica Spain, drawing on their experience of the Spanish market.’
The operator announced that it would invest £2m in its Centre of Excellence partners during the first quarter of 2010 last week.
It also recently claimed that it is the leader in the SME segment, with 37% of the market.
