O2 partner 8020 Telecoms and fixed-line provider Russell Telecom have partnered to offer a 'total communications solution' to their combined client base.

The two companies will be called Russell 8020 and will target clients from Scotland's central belt down to Manchester and Hull.

The new company has already been named as the preferred telecoms supplier for the largest regional chambers of commerce, the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC).

The five year contract will allow Russell Telecom to provide NECC members with preferential rates on telecoms packages.

8020 MD Andrew Edgar said: 'We are both service-orientated businesses.

Telecoms is a very aggressive market and businesses are inundated with cold calls from prospective suppliers. The challenge is knowing who to trust.'

'At Russell 8020 we share our knowledge, technologies, key suppliers, tariffs and products to ensure clients get the best value for money, not only at the outset but for the lifetime of our relationship.'

Russell Telecom director Lawrence McCaughey said: 'The NECC contract is an early vindication of the power of this alliance. Both companies are ambitious to expand and we have already begun introducing each to our respective client bases.'
