Phonebox completes b2b transition after closing last two stores
Independent dealer Phonebox Solutions has licensed its last two stores to Shebang’s Go Mobile, signalling the completion of its transition from high street retailer to b2b dealer and online retailer. It has restructured the business as a result.
The dealer, which was first established in 1994, had built its business on the back of a retail estate, but last year it moved away from retail closing all five of its stores.
Over the last year, the dealer has been concentrating on its online business and strengthening its b2b sales team, sales and operations director, Oliver Rowe told Mobile.
Phonebox’s last two stores in Solihull and Litchfield have been licensed to Go Mobile since September 2009.
Phonebox managing director, Nigel Harrison (pictured) said: ‘We had a retail estate about a year ago and now that side of the business has been gone onto the web with www.phoneboxsolutions.co.uk. We let the retail estate go as the leases of the premises came to an end.’
Due to the changes, Phonebox has reorganised the business and split it into ‘new business’ and ‘account management’, appointing Sarah Gill as head of new business.
Gill’s role will be to build and grow the new business team as well as targeting acquisitions.
Rowe said: ‘Based on customers over the last 24 months we have a customer retention rate of 87% and the way I see it is there is another 13% to go. Our motto is: “sell more and retain more”.
‘Customers are a lot more savvy about who they are dealing with and we are dealing with a lot bigger companies and we try to keep that local feeling – it is all about the relationship.’
