Avenir to double accessories revenue
Avenir’s accessories division is set to double its business this year.
This will put the it on track to deliver at least 20% of the distributor’s revenue by 2011.
The company plans to grow the business by signing up exclusive brands linked primarily to the iPhone and BlackBerry ranges.
Stuart Balaam, Avenir’s accessories sales director, said: ‘As the accessories team, we will double our business this year – and we are certainly set to deliver at least 20% of Avenir’s business by 2011.’
Balaam said the accessories division had signed up a welter of deals since strengthening the team in November, with the addition of James Bennett from Carphone Warehouse as national manager and Mark Grice, formerly of Data Select, as UK sales manager.
So far this year, Avenir has signed exclusive accessories deals with Energizer, Textra, Speck and Dexim.
Balaam said: ‘For Avenir to grow the business, we need to create a unique place in the market. We have used the strength of the group to attract quite a number of brands. We now have a fantastic portfolio of products.’
Avenir’s Energizer range of mobile device chargers will launch by September with a number of retailers. Balaam said they included ‘a grocer, network operator support and specialist retailer support’. He added that more retailers will be added in the New Year.
Balaam said Avenir uses strict criteria to select new brands: ‘We will not sign just any brand. We will only take on new products where we feel there is a point of difference and space in the range.’
