Best Buy, the US consumer electronics retailer, has today announced that it will open stores in Derby and Nottingham.
The store in Derby will be located at the Kingsway Retail Park, and is expected to open in autumn 2010. The store in Nottingham will be on the Castle Marina Retail Park, and is slated to open in Spring/Summer 2011.
Best Buy, which owns 50% of Carphone Warehouse, has two stores already open in the UK at Thurrock in Essex and Hedge End in Southampton. A third store at Merry Hill in the West Midlands will open this Friday (25 June). The company has also announced two further stores in Aintree near Liverpool and in Croydon, Surrey, which are due to open in the autumn.
Best Buy has ambitious expansion plans with up to 200 stores expected to open across the UK. The stores range a wide variety of audio and visual equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies, games, and connections – including fixed and mobile broadband – content and services. The Thurrock store features a mobile section with 110 live handsets on display.
