20:20 redundancies expected as new subsidiaries created

The UK’s largest distributor 20:20 Mobile will make around 20 staff redundant from its UK based international department, Mobile understands.

The staff were put on consultation on Tuesday (6 July) with a view to shrink their department.

The news comes as 20:20 opens new subsidiaries in Holland and Turkey. Former MD of 20:20 Mobile International, George Steur, will take charge of the new subsidiary in Holland, which will support the company’s activities in Germany and Belgium.

The distributor is aiming to strengthen its presence in each region and work closely with local partners and customers.

The office in Istanbul, Turkey, will be managed from 20:20’s established organisation in the United Arab Emirates. 20:20 Mobile’s French subsidiary will also be expanded to service recent market growth in France.

20:20 said in a statement: ‘Redundancies in the UK international operations are expected in marketing, purchasing and finance, with the majority being voluntary.’
