20:20 secures Tesco deal
The UK’s largest distributor 20:20 Mobile is in the process of securing a deal with Tesco to fulfill the supermarket giant’s telecoms stores, Mobile understands.
The deal will see 20:20 stepping into a deal previously held by its rival Shebang, providing a complete end-to-end solution for the supermarket MVNO.
Several other distributors are thought to have been in the running for the major contract, including Data Select and Brightstar.
20:20 was the supply partner for Tesco from 2005 to 2008, but lost the contract to Shebang. The contract to supply Tesco with software and contract phones is thought to be worth £20m.
Shebang walked away from the Tesco contract in July and will stop providing services for Tesco from 1 October.
20:20 and Tesco did not comment on the deal.
