Vodafone’s Windle takes LG marketing role

LG has appointed former Vodafone head of indirect marketing Alex Windle as head of marketing for mobile, UK and Ireland, Mobile can exclusively reveal.

Windle will replace Jeremy Newing, who left LG in December last year following a rethink of LG’s marketing strategy.

Windle will handle the company’s marketing efforts, reporting to LG Electronics marketing director for UK and Ireland Paul Trueman, and working closely with LG Mobile UK general manager Jim Michel.

Windle left Vodafone two months ago after eight years at the company. He started as CRM campaigns manager in August 2002 and was promoted to customer propositions manager a year later. He also held the roles of service and brand manager, senior channel marketing programmes manager (B2B) and head of product during his time at the operator.

Last month, Mobile revealed that former LG global account manager for T-Mobile Michel had been promoted to general manager of the manufacturer’s mobile division.

Michel had previously taken on former sales director John Barton’s UK responsibilities on an interim basis.

Barton’s previous role has been removed.

In July, LG underwent a UK reorganisation, resulting in the departure of head of retail and distribution Steve Fraser and sales director for networks Christine Howard.
