Proporta enters software distribution
White label accessories manufacturer Proporta has been appointed as distributor for Sygic – a company that produces GPS navigation software.
Sygic, whose software was previously used by TomTom as a white label service, has decided to use its own brand.
Proporta is now an authorised supplier of Sygic software and will target consumer electronics retailers.
Meanwhile, Sygic has appointed Brightpoint as the distributor that will look after operators and resellers.
Proporta will distribute Sygic’s mobile maps to its established business partners. The maps are available across all mobile operating systems apart from Apple and BlackBerry.
Maps can now be pre-installed on handsets rather than downloaded through a 3G connection.
Sygic sales and new business consultant David Elder said: ‘It is important to have the right supply relationships in place and Proporta is in the right place to help us to do that.’
Proporta was established in 1996 and provides products to Dixons, Comet, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Apple.
Proporta head of marketing Lynnette Prigmore said: ‘Our tagline is “everything covered” and we are looking to branch out as much as we can. We are looking to bring out a GPS bundle and Sygic will tie in nicely.’
