Stephen Shurrock to head up O2 Ireland

O2 consumer sales director Stephen Shurrock is leaving the opeartor's UK arm to head up O2 Ireland. Ben Dowd will take on his role in the interim while continuing in his current role as business sales director.

Sources said it is not yet clear whether Shurrock will be replaced or whether Dowd will take over Shurrock’s role on a permanent basis.

Shurrock and Dowd were appointed to O2's board as consumer sales director and business sales director respectively in February 2008, shortly after Ronan Dunne became CEO.

The two roles were created by splitting former sales director Mark Stansfeld’s role. Industry observers said the move to put Dowd in Shurrock’s role might herald the merging of both roles once more.
