Samsung profits and sales continue to rise in Q3
Samsung’s handset division has reported a strong performance in Q3 with handset sales increasing by 12%.

The division reported an operating profit of 1.13 trillion won (£631 million) and revenue of 11.12 trillion won (£6.21 billion). The operating profit margin was 10.2%.

The manufacturer sold 71.4 million handsets during the third quarter, a year on year increase of 19 percent. The average sales price of a handset also increased by 14% quarter on quarter.

The increase in handset sales and selling price was attributed to the launch of the Galaxy S and the Wave. Samsung is predicting that the Galaxy S will sell 10 million units by the end of the year.

The Wave has already shipped more than two million units across 80 countries.

In the next quarter Samsung ‘aims to increase its market share and maintain double-digit operating profit by meeting seasonal demand with an enhanced product mix of mass market smartphones, full-touch phones and the Galaxy Tab’.
