Monitise adds one million users
Monitise’s rapid growth reflects the increasing demand for mobile money services, according to Monitise CMO Peter Simpson.
The company has over two million users, adding a million new users in the six months between October 2009 and April 2010.
In the UK its RBS and Natwest iPhone apps, launched late last year, have seen 20 million transactions made in the first six months. Monitise technology currently works with 55% of the UK retail banking market.
Globally, Monitise’s platform handles over 100 million transactions a year, dealing with over 250 financial institutions worldwide on over 3,000 different handsets, with Monitise’s platform verified as bank grade secure by Visa, HSBC and FIS.
Monitise is developing contactless payment solutions. In 2008, it launched an NFC payments and ticketing platform and is currently involved in trials of DeviceFidelity’s NFC solution, which is backed by Visa.
