Smartphone users lack loyalty, survey says
The smartphone market is gearing up for a fight to keep customers after a GfK survey showed users lack loyalty towards their current brands.
According to the survey, 56% of smartphone users were keeping their options open about which brand to buy next. However, Apple did command a degree of loyalty.
Meanwhile, only 25% of customers were loyal to the operating system running on their phones, with the highest degree of loyalty reported among iPhone users at 59%, followed by BlackBerry at 35%, Android at 28% and Symbian at 24%. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 commanded the lowest loyalty at 21%.
GfK conducted the survey of 2,653 mobile users in Britain, Brazil, Germany, Spain, the US States and China online during October and November.
