Three hooks up with Opera in web browser deal

Three and Opera Mobile have hooked up in a deal that will offer Three's customers faster mobile browsing. The offer is free and open to all customers.

The Opera Mini browser will allow Three’s customers to surf the internet while saving up to 90% in data consumption. Opera Mini works by compressing data on pages prior to being sent to customers’ mobiles. The browser is free to download, supports over 3,000 phones and is available on Three's website.

Charlotte Blanchard, Three UK's director of products and services said: ‘We want to bring the benefits of a great mobile internet experience to all handsets, whether smartphones or not. Opera Mini helps us extend that experience to an even greater range of devices.’

Dag Olav Norem, VP of mobile products at Opera Software, said: ‘We are excited to join forces with Three to make sure even more people get online with their mobile phones and make use of the full web, even on the go.’
