Apple’s iPad sales surpass expectations
Apple has reported record Christmas sales as demand for both iPads and iPhones surged. The manufacturer reported its results for the quarter ended 25 December yesterday (19 January).
Net income in rose 78% to $6bn (£3.75bn) and revenue grew 1% to $26.7bn (£16.7bn) as the iPad tablet became one of the most popular Christmas gifts.
Apple sold 7.3 million iPads during the quarter – around a million more than analysts had expected.
Meanwhile, iPhone sales surged 86% year on year to 16.2 million.
