Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media, is to become Virgin Media director of customer services, from next month. Virgin Media has yet to announce his successor.
The newly created role will see Kini working across the business to develop customer services and operations. Virgin Media said the move is in 'recognition of his significant contribution to the growth and success of Virgin Media’s mobile service'.
Kini was appointed director of mobile in January 2009 following the merger between NTL, Telewest and Virgin Mobile. Prior to that he held finance and commercial roles within Virgin Media.
He played a key role in transforming the largely pay-as-you-go service into a mobile network and in developing Virgin Media’s quad-play offering.
Graeme Oxby, executive director of mobile and home phone, said: 'It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Jonathan and I wish him every success in his new role. His strong experience and passion will be invaluable for the company as we strive to become the most customer-focused company in our sector.'
Kini, said: 'This is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of an important team which helps to further transform Virgin Media and make it the very best consumer offering in the market. Virgin Media has a massive focus on developing its staff and nurturing talent, and I’m really excited to be able to take on this new challenge at a time when Virgin Media is looking to accelerate its growth.'
