Azzuri Communications has clinched a £5m unified comms deal with facilities services and outsourcing company OCS.
The deal will see OCS cut its communications spend by a 30% over the three year contract.
The contract is for the design, implementation and management of a unified comms solution and is part of OCS’s strategy to introduce more flexible and collaborative working practices.
Craig Wellman, director of business development told Mobile: ‘This is a groundbreaking deal in the UK market. OCS had wanted a unified comms solution for a long time but the technology requirements and costs prohibited them.’
He said Azzurri beat much larger competitors to the deal because its rivals were not able to provide the flexibility and independence to deliver a flexible unified comms solution.
Wellman said the new contract will allow OCS to reduce its communications spend by over 30% in the next three years, while continuing to refresh its technology platform through harnessing new technologies such as Ethernet First Mile (EFM). The new integrated and ‘unified’ platform will allow the firm to provide significantly improved services to its customers through service innovation and workforce productivity.
He added that the solution is the first of a new breed of UC solutions to be deployed in the UK which federates the services of a number of previously conflicting vendors and carriers to deliver a fully managed solution.
Azzurri, as an independent provider, will use its unique cloud-based ‘fabric’ to bring together multiple suppliers of MPLS, Ethernet, SIP and DSL services, combined with mobility from Telefonica O2 and hosted VoIP capabilities from Avaya.
Wellman said Azzurri is currently chasing similar deals.
‘We have a number of other deals of similar size with customers seeking to rationalise and save money and bring the benefits of integrated communications.’
He added: ‘We can provide a federated solution because we are independent and we are winning deals of this size in competition against very large incumbent carriers.’
Jenny Sener, OCS’s ICT director, added: ‘We really challenged the market with our requirement for a transformational communication infrastructure. Our vision is to take advantage of paradigm shifts in technology to gain an edge in a highly competitive sector. We have chosen Azzurri to help us achieve our roadmap for innovation, productivity and cost reduction to support improved customer services. We believe that a consolidated, managed platform delivered by one primary supplier provides the leverage for delivering economies of scale for major UC implementations.’
