Facebook launches Deals service
Facebook is allowing mobile users to get deals or coupons from high street retailers with a new service called Facebook Deals.
The service is linked to location-based app Facebook Places, which allows users to ‘check in’ at various locations. Facebook Deals then promotes any special offers to the user.
Users who visit participating shops can log in from their mobile phones to receive rewards, while retailers can use Facebook Deals as a virtual loyalty card or coupon system.
Facebook has already signed up businesses including O2, Starbucks, and Debenhams.
