LG announces world’s first 3D smartphone

LG has launched the world’s first 3D smartphone at Mobile World Congress today (14 February).

The Optimus 3D, which Orange and Three have already announced they will stock, makes it possible to watch 3D videos without wearing glasses, thanks to a 4.3-inch ‘stereoscopic’ touch-screen.

Users can also make their own 3D content using the two five-megapixel cameras on board and then upload directly to YouTube or watch on TV via a HDMI connection.

Key features include: Glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing; the ability to record, watch and game; a 3D-enabling dual-core processor TI OMAP 4; full HD 2D (1080p) / 3D (720p) video playback and three pre-loaded games.

Pricing and availability will be announced soon.
