Virgin Media has appointed former Orange man Jamie Heywood as director of mobile.
Heywood will replace Jonathan Kini, who moved to take on a new senior role within the customer and operations division.
Heywood has more than ten years experience across the mobile industry, including stints at Virgin Mobile in India and China and Orange in the UK and Thailand.
As deputy CEO, Heywood helped launch Virgin Mobile in India with a strong handset, product innovation and distribution strategy. He secured China’s first ever MVNO contract as CEO of Virgin Mobile in China, and spent five years with Orange, both in the UK and Thailand.
Virgin Media executive director of mobile and home phone Graeme Oxby said: ‘Jamie has a wealth of experience and an exceptional understanding of how Virgin Media is shaking up the market and giving consumers something truly compelling. As we take more content across screens, offer great value and innovation across our services and continue to bring the benefits of mobile from Virgin Media to life, Jamie will be a strong addition to the team.’
Heywood said: ‘Virgin Media has an outstanding mobile offering and an admirable focus on its customers. As the first provider of all four broadband, TV, mobile and home phone services in the UK, Virgin Media has made a real impact on the market and I look forward to building on the achievements to date.’
