Nokia says Japan crisis will affect product supply
Nokia has confirmed that the Japan earthquake will impact its global operations.
In a statement released today (21 March), the manufacturer confirmed that it is anticipating disruption to the ability of its devices and services unit as a result of the Japan earthquake. However, it does not expect any material impact on its first quarter results.
Nokia’s market CEO, Niklas Savander said: ‘First and foremost, our thoughts are with those affected by the earthquake in Japan. We are working hard to support our employees, their families, as well as disaster relief efforts through the Japanese Red Cross. We are in constant dialogue with our suppliers and with their extended supply chain in the region.’
Although the Finnish telecoms giant only sources a small number of components from Japan, it said it will continue to closely monitor the situation to minimize the impact.
