Go Mobile will be embarking on its first full year of sponsorship after teaming up with Tech-Speed Motorsport and Sunshine.co.uk to run cars for the 2011 British Touring Car Championships (BTCC).
The new GoMobileUK.com with Tech-Speed cars were unveiled yesterday (Thursday 24 March) at the annual British Tour Car Championships (BTCC) Media Day at Silverstone.
BTCC sponsorship is part of Shebang’s strategy to expand its Go Mobile estate and promote the brand.
Project manager, Wayne Freeth said: ‘We (Shebang) are trying to get the brand across to your everyday person. They will see our brand and link the two when they see the shops in their local area.
‘We are very much focused on community retailing and on the back of the people that watch the British Tour Car Championships, it’s a really nice fit.’
The Go Mobile team will head into the new season with two cars for Widnes-racer Paul O’Neill and Guernsey-based team-mate John George.
Paul O’Neill will be behind the wheel of the championship car driven by Jason Plato last year. The event was watched by 14 million viewers.
Go Mobile, Head of Marketing, Neil Anderson said: ‘There fact that we are a prime sponsor of the car just shows the level of investment and commitment that Go Mobile is willing to give.’
‘The biggest focus over the next 12 months is Purple Partnerships (Go Mobile’s franchise programme). We want to really work with our other Go Mobile stores to bring new franchises on board.’
‘The branding looks really tight and we will be at all the races. The exposure across national TV is key to expand as a mobile retail shop. This is the first steps in doing so.’
The company hopes to gain 10,000 new connections over the season as a result of the sponsorship with plans to continue its partnership next year.
The British Tour Car Championships will air on ITV 1 and ITV 4 on 2 April.
