The iPad is selling out worldwide and has nearly run out of stock in the UK, according to reports.
According to a report in the Telegraph, Apple could not confirm that the iPad 2 is out of stock nationwide because there might be limited supplies at certain stores. However, none of the Apple stores that the Telegraph spoke to had any in stock.
'Country-wide, you won’t get one,' a staff member at Apple’s Covent Garden store told the paper.
Supplies at the Regent Street and Covent Garden Apple stores were reportedly all sold out by Saturday last week.
Apple said: 'Demand for the next generation iPad 2 has been amazing. We are working hard to get iPad 2 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible.'
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Apple's latest device is out of stock in several of the other markets where it went on sale. In the US, the iPad sold out just days after it went on sale on 11 March.
In France, it is thought more than 3,000 iPads were sold in five hours at the Opera Store in Paris.
Customers unable to get hold of the device have been advised to order directly from the Apple website.
