Slowest mobile broadband speeds revealed

Milton Keynes has the slowest 3G mobile broadband speeds in the UK at 1.7Mbps, according to research by website Top10.com.

This compared with 3.6Mbps in the fastest town for 3G, Peterborough.

Top10.com analysed 3G speed tests carried out by users of its Streetstats 3G app, which is available on the iPhone-only.

The slowest towns for 3G were: Milton Keynes; Leicester (2.01Mbps); Huddersfield (2.17Mbps); Cardiff (2.18Mbps); Liverpool (2.21Mbps); Blackburn (2.23Mbps) and Stevenage (2.23Mbps)

The fastest UK towns were: Peterborough (3.86Mbps); Carlisle (3.5Mbps), Eastbourne (3.47Mbps); and Stoke (3.35Mbps).

Ofcom is also conducting its own research into mobile broadband speeds, due for launch later this month.
