Google to release Gtalk on Android

Google is poised to add its own video chat feature to its Android smartphones, according to new reports.

The move will allow users to make Wi-Fi-only video calls over their phone's internet connection using the FaceTime-like feature in place of the existing 3G video calls currently available on Android.

The company is reportedly planning to include the new video calling feature in the next Gingerbread update.

Industry insiders have suggested Google will announce the new video feature during the Google I/O devcon that will be held 10 to 11 May in San Francisco.

A Google spokesperson said: ‘We do not comment on forthcoming products or service.’
