Samsung Mobile UK chief: Tablets yet to become established
The tablet market is not as established as many believe, Samsung UK head of mobile Simon Stanford told Mobile.
He said: ‘People think the tablet market is established but it’s not. About 25% of tablets are subsidised and 95% of smartphones are subsidised. We need to create this industry element of both subsidised and unsubsidised.’
However, he added: 'If you look at the seven-inch tab – it’s had more shelf life than any device, especially in b2b.’
Samsung is currently looking at strengthening its Galaxy brand. Stanford said: ‘There are a huge amount of people who don’t know about smartphones so some education is needed.’
He added: ‘We are also starting to look at strategy – consumers will start to see more consistency and look at our TV space. We will make the process of buying things a lot easier.’
