Nokia CTO Rich Green takes leave of absence
Nokia executive VP and CTO Rich Green has taken an indefinite leave of absence for ‘personal reasons.’
The Finnish company today (9 June) confirmed that the former VP of Sun Microsystems will be leaving the company for an unspecified duration of time to ‘deal with a personal matter’. It is not known if, or when, he will be returning to Nokia.
Nokia said: ‘We can confirm that Rich Green has taken leave to attend to a personal matter. We have not provided a specific timetable for his return. During Rich’s absence, Henry Tirri will assume the responsibilities of the CTO office.’
Green, who joined the company in 2010 and heads Nokia's software technology, will be replaced by the head of Nokia Research Center Henry Tirri.
The company was recently forced to reduce its profits forecast for 2011 as its smartphone sales continue to slide.
