Carphone Warehouse is promoting its new-look concession in Selfridges in London by offering shoppers the chance to get hold of a BlackBerry PlayBook ahead of its formal launch.
From next Wednesday (15 June) the newly opened new-look Carphone Warehouse concession on Oxford Street will offer Selfridges customers advanced availability of the PlayBook tablet.
Customers who have a PlayBook demo in store will be given goodie bags and the opportunity to win a free BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry Torch, as well as tickets for Jessie J’s gig at the HMV Apollo.
The updated concession features live demos for all smartphones and tablets and access to a Geek Squad and round the clock call centre support.
Carphone Warehouse in London Westfield, Manchester Trafford, Bluewater and Bristol Cribbs will also have early stock of the BlackBerry PlayBook on 15 June. It can also be pre-ordered from Carphone Warehouse’s and Best Buy’s websites.
The new tablet, which features built-in Wi-Fi support, can be purchased for around £399 for the 16GB model. The 32GB model is available from £479, while the 64GB model will be available from £559.
The BlackBerry PlayBook will be on general release at The Carphone Warehouse across the UK on 16 June. It features a sleek design, and is powered by QNX technology.
The device offers easy multitasking, making it possible to read an email, surf the web and chat with friends over BBM all at the same time, which RIM claims sets the PlayBook apart from it's competitors’ tablets.
