The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is on pre-order at Carphone Warehouse with an August release date.
The Xperia Ray is part of Sony Ericsson’s renewed assault on the smartphone market, which includes the Xperia Active, due for release this autumn.
Both the new handsets will run on the latest Gingerbread 2.3 version of Google’s Android operating system.
The Xperia Ray features a 3.3-inch touch-screen in a slim 9.4mm thick aluminium case. The Ray is expected to come with a 1GHz processor, a front-facing camera for video calls and an 8.1-megapixel camera on the back.
It will also be capable of high definition 720p video recording.
The second device, the Xperia Active, is built to be robust and comes coated in protective rubber and with a protective wrist strap.
It has a three-inch touch-screen with a 320x480 pixel resolution.
Aimed at the fitness market, it also comes preloaded with a MapMyFitness app that tracks the user’s daily exercise and a free pair of wireless bluetooth headphones.
