Phones 4u marketing director Russell Braterman is leaving the independent mobile phone retailer to join Vodafone Group as its brand and creative strategy director from 1 November. Phones 4u has also announced that it is setting up a new Trade Marketing department.
Phones 4u CEO Phil Dobson said: ‘Phones 4u marketing director Russell Braterman has decided to leave the business to take up an opportunity in group marketing at Vodafone. Russell will continue to see through the creation and planning of our Q4 marketing campaign and will leave to pursue this new opportunity following that. We would like to wish him all the very best for the future.’
Explaining the creation of the new Trade Marketing department, Dobson said: ‘As the mobile marketplace continues to innovate and grow, along with consumer demand for the latest technology, we need to stay ahead of the market in retaining our strong position as a key partner for launching product. As a result, we are pleased to announce the creation of a Trade Marketing department, consisting of the current campaign and PR teams, which will report directly to trading director Scott Hooton.
‘This will ensure that we are structured in the most effective way to co-ordinate and control the entire 'Campaign' for each of our products, allowing us to successfully fulfil our promise to manufacturers to create the best product launch across all channels and all customer touch points both in retail and online.
Dobson continued: ‘As a result of these changes, the marketing department will now consist of brand positioning and communications and customer insight, which will report directly into a new strategy director (currently in the process of recruiting). The trading team will continue to be responsible for determining the timing, purpose and weight of any ATL campaign.’
