Samsung has chosen the IFA trade show in Berlin as the stage to unveil its latest tablet and smartphones devices, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Note and Galaxy S WiFi.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, measures just 7.89mm thin and weighs only 335g.
The manufacturer claims that it is the world’s first tablet to feature a Super AMOLED Plus display.
Samsung UK and Ireland Mobile MD Simon Stanford said: ‘The new Galaxy Tab 7.7 demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to offering consumers the most choice in the mobile tablet market. The Galaxy Tab 7.7’s ultra-thin design and enhanced screen technology using Super AMOLED Plus are key differentiators in the tablet marketplace.
‘We have seen the reaction of our customers to Super AMOLED Plus displays with the successful Galaxy S II and by using this in the new Galaxy Tab 7.7 we are aiming to meet the wide variety of consumer needs.’
Meanwhile, Samsung also took the wraps of the 5.3- inch Galaxy Note smartphone, which runs on Android 2.3 and features a 1.4GHz dual-core processor as well as advanced pen input functionality that can be used for accurate sketching and artwork. The company describes it as a new category of product, which allows people to capture and create ideas while on the go.
Stanford said: ‘The huge, 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED screen is the largest, highest quality display available in any phone. The touch-screen and S Pen combine to produce a uniquely accurate level of control, along with rich expressions across the Galaxy Note experience, enabling the introduction of new smartphone experiences.’
Samsung also unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6, a personal media player with a Wi-Fi connection.
Samsungs says that the Galaxy S WiFi is for ‘someone looking for the entertainment and WiFi capabilities of an Android smartphone, but who does not want to incur the cost of a monthly smartphone contract’.
The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi features a 3.6-inch HVGA touch-screen and a two-megapixel camera with LED flash as well as a 1GHz OMAP processor.
Users can make video calls over the internet using platforms such as Google Talk. The device also includes Social Hub, which means that when connected to the internet users can access a variety of social networking services as well as email and instant messaging platforms from a single inbox.
The Galaxy S WiFi will launch in the UK in early October and will be available from retailers including Dixons, Amazon, Littlewoods, HMV and Argos. The 8GB device is expected to retail for £149 and the 16GB at £169. It will be available in black and white variants.
