Apple iPhone 5 tipped to launch 4 October

The long-awaited Apple iPhone 5 is tipped to launch on 4 October at an Apple conference headlined ‘Let’s talk iPhone.’

The launch could see two new iPhones revealed – if earlier comments from Apple board member and former US Vice President Al Gore are to be believed. Earlier this month he referred to the forthcoming launch of Apple’s latest ‘iPhones.’

These are believed to be the flagship iPhone 5 and an entry-level iPhone 4S, mirroring Apple’s current iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS offering.

The event is also tipped to be the launch pad for the already announced Apple’s iOS 5 and iCloud.

The press event will be the first since Steve Jobs stepped down, with new CEO Tim Cook expected to make his debut.
