Huawei has announced a partnership with media company Discovery Communications to produce the Huawei-Discovery Expedition phone.
The joint venture will see the feature phone launched as part of the expanding Discovery Expedition line, the official lifestyle brand of the Discovery Channel. The device will be commercially available in Q4 2011.
The waterproof Huawei-Discovery Expedition phone is dustproof and and also features anti-shock technology, a torch, compass, G-sensor, GPS and social networking integration. Huawei says the handset is ideal for travel and outdoor activities.
Huawei Device chief marketing officer Victor Xu said: ‘This is the first time that Huawei has created a co-branded mobile phone with Discovery and we are very excited about providing outdoor enthusiasts with a device that can support their communications and active lifestyle needs. This partnership will allow Huawei to leverage Discovery’s robust marketing channels to consumers around the world.
‘This Huawei-Discovery Expedition phone collaboration is the first of many to come and we look forward to working even more closely with Discovery in the near future to co-create more innovative products that we can share with consumers.’
