Samsung and Google scrap product announcement at CTIA show

Samsung has scrapped its scheduled product announcement at CTIA Fall, which was tipped to be the unveiling of the new Google Nexus Prime.

The handset was due to be unveiled in San Diego on Tuesday (11 October) but plans were postponed, because 'it is just not the right time'. Bloggers have related the move to the sudden death of Steve Jobs yesterday (6 October).

In a joint statement, Samsung and Google said they have 'decided to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. A new date and venue will be shortly announced'.

The move is not expected to hinder the anticipated launch of the new Android operating system Ice Cream Sandwich, also known as Android 4.0, at CTIA on Tuesday.
