Apple to stream iTunes movies using iCloud

Apple is reportedly working with Hollywood film studios to add a movie streaming service to its iCloud.

According to industry insiders, the new service will enable iPhone and iPad users to buy movies from iTunes and then stream them to their iOS device.

The computer giant is apparently finalising deals with movie studio execs to launch the service by the end of this year or early 2012.

The news follows the launch of the Apple iCloud service on its next generation operating system, iOS 5 yesterday (12 October) and comes ahead of the release of its latest smartphone, the iPhone 4S tomorrow (14 October).

The iCloud service, which replaced Apple’s MobileMe service, allows users to store a total 5GB of free storage downloads and data in the cloud. It also backs data daily over Wi-Fi when the device is charging, including content including music, photos and videos.
