HTC has signaled its move into the children’s market after acquiring child-focused app developer Inquisitive Mind Inc for $13m.
The manufacturer has brought a 100% stake in the company responsible for designing personal computer, smartphones and tablets for children under the brand Zoodles.
HTC CEO Peter Chou said: ‘Children interact with technology in a wonderfully natural way. It’s important that they are protected while exploring and learning. We want to create wholesome, family-oriented environment for our HTC devices, which makes Zoodles a perfect fit.’
The purchase is the latest in a series of acquisitions made by HTC in a bid to boost its online and software capabilities.
HTC acquired a majority share in audio company Beats Electronics, known for the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, in August this year.
The manufacturer released its first Beats technology integrated device, the HTC Sensation XE, earlier this month.
