Vodafone launches technical support team for customers

Vodafone UK has announced that it is launching a technical advisory service from today (1 November) to help customers get the most out of the latest smartphones, tablets and mobile internet devices.

Tech Team members will be available to help customers with free technical advice on the phone, online and in selected stores. Vodafone customers can pre-book an appointment at selected stores or just drop in when they want. The move follows similar developments at O2, which has its Gurus technical team and Carphone Warehouse’s Geek Squad.

The company said Tech Team members are specially trained and know the ins and outs of the latest products and services. They can fix any hitches or glitches, as well as share hints and tips to help all Vodafone customers get the most from their devices. For new and upgrading customers, the Tech Team will make sure that they pick the handset that is right for their needs and help get them up and running with it.

To make the switch between handsets – and even phones with different operating systems – as smooth as possible, all retail stores have been equipped with Vodafone’s exclusive RED Box. It can transfer contacts, texts, pictures, videos and music between devices ‘while you wait’.

RED Box is able to connect 3,500 different types of phone from a wide range of manufacturers. As well as transferring content between devices, it can be used to back-up the contents of a phone to an SD card or USB stick. Some of the devices that RED Box can connect to are more than a decade old, meaning that customers who have photos that are locked in an old phone will be able to retrieve their precious memories.

Vodafone UK CEO Guy Laurence commented: ‘The current crop of smartphones have more computing power than the rockets that sent astronauts to the moon. Our Tech Team are here to give customers everything they need to make sure that they are able to harness all that power and use it to get the best possible experience from their smartphone. Coupled with Vodafone Data Test Drive and the new RED Box, Tech Team will give customers the confidence to take part in the growing smartphone revolution.’
