O2 has appointed Heineken’s Mark Given as head of sponsorship in the company’s brand team.
Given will join the operator on 16 January and will lead all brand sponsorship activity, including being the lead sponsor of the England rugby team, a partner of Arsenal football club and naming rights sponsor of The O2 and O2 Academy venues.
His appointment comes after O2 promoted head of CRM Andy Day to the newly created role of general manager for a business intelligence team.
The operator is creating the team to ‘bring together our existing customer data, insight and analysis to ensure we continue to develop the best products and services possible for our customers’.
Given has worked at Heineken since 2007 on the Foster’s and John Smith’s brands as brand director mainstream beer.
Here, he developed the ‘Good Call’ advertising campaign, Foster’s comedy sponsorship with the return of Alan Partridge and The Fast Show, the Peter Kay John Smith’s advertising campaign resurrection and negotiated an extension to the brands sponsorship of the John Smith’s Grand National. He previously worked on the Pringles brand for Procter & Gamble.
