Cognatel launches new MVNO CyCell

Vodafone MVNA Cognatel has launched CyCell, a new MVNO offering a white label mobile handset service combined with tailored mobile packages.

CyCell has developed a platform that allows for the rapid design and manufacture of credit card sized branded mobile phones, enabling customers to develop a unique device within a fraction of the time it would take to design a mobile phone through traditional manufacturing channels.

Cycell is hoping to target niche markets with its MVNO service, ranging from elderly people to healthcare services, corporate customers and events.

CyCell CEO Tom Sunderland (pictured, right) said: ‘We have spent many years developing our product and it is great to now be bringing this exciting innovation to market. We have worked very closely with Cognatel’s commercial and operational teams to ensure a rapid roll out of our service. In the coming weeks we will be announcing our initial branding partners, which will demonstrate the versatility of our product and services.’

Cognatel CEO Mark Ashdown (pictured, left) said: ‘CyCell is a real innovator in the mobile market space and has a fantastic device design which will unlock new bases of subscribers into the mobile environment. We have worked closely with CyCell to ensure the timely roll out of these services and CyCell is evidence of the support model we have put in place so that our MVNO’s are well prepared for launch and have the right systems in place to ensure long-term success.’

Vodafone UK director of wholesale Nick Parbutt said: ‘It is exciting to see CyCell bring such an innovative product to market that will allow them to target new customer segments. It is also positive to see Cognatel bring another MVNO to market that capitalises on their leading technical capabilities. I look forward to a strong partnership between the three of us as CyCell launch and become a successful MVNO.’
