Three strikes deal with Macheen to target connected devices market

Three has signed a deal with Macheen, a global cloud service provider for connected devices.

Macheen enables connected device makers and retailers to deliver products that are ‘hot-out-of-the-box’ — shipped pre-connected to the internet via mobile networks — under a white label service. Connected devices include laptops, tablets, and sat navs, as well as gaming devices and other portable consumer electronic products.

The new deal sees Macheen’s platform extended to include Three’s 3G network.

Three’s director of wholesale Lynda Burton said: ‘The combined package of the UK’s fastest growing 3G network with Macheen’s proven platform is a very exciting prospect that will be a major catalyst for the embedded 3G market.

‘This further cements Three’s role in the UK’s ever expanding wholesale marketplace, and shows why we are increasingly the network of choice for partnerships.’

Macheen president and CEO Richard Schwartz said: ‘Device makers are looking to turn lower-margin hardware into constant customer connections — without the heavy lifting.

‘That transition begins with simple, seamless connections to the cloud, followed by ongoing offers of new content and services. We are seeing a significant improvement in both the purchase and connection rates of device makers who build connectivity into their devices.’?
