Vodafone launches child protection app
Vodafone has launched a new Android app to allow parents to protect young people from unwanted calls and inappropriate content.
Vodafone Guardian is password protected and can be set up to screen content according to specific age ranges or features. Internet access can also be barred at certain times of the day.
Vodafone UK’s legal and government affairs director Justine Campbell said: ‘Vodafone Guardian gives [parents and carers] an easy, fast, simple way to help protect their child from inappropriate content and contact, and gives both child and carer peace of mind.’
According to the regulator Ofcom, 18% of 5-11-year-olds own a smartphone, with more than a third of teenagers owning a similar device.
