Samsung unveils Galaxy Ace Plus handset

Samsung has revamped its Galaxy Ace handset, launching a new device aimed at young professionals and a UK launch confirmed for later this year.

The Galaxy Ace Plus will go on sale in Russia this month and will 'gradually' be rolled out to other markets. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.

The device ups the processor speed from the 800MHz of the original Galaxy Ace to 1GHz. The Ace Plus has a similar 320x480 pixel screen to the Ace and 3GB of internal memory.

Simon Stanford, managing director of Samsung's UK & Ireland telecommunications and networks division said: 'Whilst we saw huge growth in smartphone ownership in 2011, this is set to increase even further this year with the smartphone experience made accessible to a wider audience through the availability of everything from pre-pay to premium devices.'

Samsung's president of the IT & mobile communications division JK Shin said: 'In 2012, we will continue to make every effort to create an easy and fun mobile experience by expanding our incredibly popular Galaxy smartphone range, which is now one of the most recognised and successful mobile brands in the world.'
