Samsung appoints new mobile marketing director

Samsung has appointed Gareth Abel as its new mobile marketing director for the UK and Ireland.

The electronics manufacturer said Abel will be responsible for 'continuing to increase brand awareness across the Mobile division and building on the huge successes of 2011'.

Abel reports to Simon Stanford, MD for Samsung's UK and Ireland Telecommunications and Networks division. The position is a new role for Samsung's Mobile team.

Stanford (pictured) said: 'After the huge success Samsung Mobile has had in 2011, we predict that 2012 will be an even bigger year for us. Gareth has the expertise, knowledge and experience that will help us continue leading the way in marketing innovation.'

Abel joins from Etisalat in Abu Dhabi and previously worked at Orange for 10 years, where his roles included devices marketing director.
