O2 to take over Barratts' Oxford Street store

O2 has signed a lease to take over the former Barratts' shoe store on Oxford Street.

The shoe chain collapsed into administration in December 2011. However, a spokesman for O2 said it had a deal in place for the Barratts' store on 297 Oxford Street. The 3,900 sq ft site is split over two floors.

The O2 spokesman said: 'We’ve recently signed the lease on a property in Oxford Street, with the agreement due to be completed by the end of February.' It is unclear whether O2 will transform the space into a conventional retail space.

It is the latest property clinched by the operator. Earlier this month, Telefónica Digital signed a lease on office space in Regents Street for its new global headquarters. Around 400 employees are due to move into the new offices when it opens in summer 2012.
